In recent years, Portugal has attracted lots of attention from the international community, receiving many awards and therefore became one of the best tourist destinations in the World.

The country was able to capitalise on the various leaders that held high ranking positions in international organisations; but the 2008 crisis, and our capacity to turn around a bad situation, made the country the object of the international media.

In 2019, Portuguese airports receive an influx of around 25 Million international passengers; 

For the same year, the total number of international guests reached 16 Million, with UK and Spain having more than 2 Million visitors each.  USA, Germany and France visitors were above 1 Million, with Netherlands and Italy almost reaching that target (well above 500.000).

While there were 988 hotels in 2012, that number jumped to 1400 in 2018.

 

More recently, the way we handled COVID -19 cause us to jump to the international news once more time, reinforcing our reputation as a safe and reliable country.
